Sony ended its PS5 Showcase stream with one final teaser, a surprise reveal of the next God of War, which will be set around Ragnarok. The teaser’s exact words were, “Ragnarok is coming,” and wouldn’t you know it, game director Cory Barlog has actually shared this exact phrase in 2019. In a series of Tweets in April last year, Barlog shared a number of behind-the-scenes photos from the game’s production, along with some development anecdotes, a few struggles and so on. Barlog’s Twitter thread contained exactly 16 Tweets. The starting letter from each one combine to spell the same sentence: “Ragnarok is coming.” It’s quite brilliant, and too specific to be a coincidence. The veteran director previously said that his ideas for DLC were too ambitious, so it’s possible some of those made it into the upcoming sequel. Barlog also expressed interest in seeing the game on PC, which is a real possibility - at least for the PS4 reboot - now that Horizon Zero Dawn on PC exists. The new God of War does not even have an official title yet, but it’s coming to PS5 in 2021.
Thanks, GameSpot.
