Pokemon Go players will be able to access raids from home with the new Remote Raid Pass. This will allow you to access Raid Battles seen on the Nearby screen no matter where you happen to be. Only one Remote Raid Pass will be required to join each raid, and you’ll be able to hold a limited amount of Remote Raid Passes at a time. The same Raid Battle can be joined by 20 trainers and battles you complete will count toward any raid-related research tasks or achievement medals. At launch, Trainers battling in raids remotely will have the same attack power and at a later time, the attack power for Trainers battling remotely will be reduced. Afterward, battling at a raid location in person will have higher attack power than when you are battling remotely. Niantic will make adjustments to this feature over time, including changes to the number of Trainers who can join remotely. It will also make adjustments to the ability to invite friends to raids regardless of location. You should keep you eye out for a 1 PokeCoin bundle that will feature Remote Raid Passes on the shop. At launch, Remote Raid Passes will be available to buy individually for 100 PokeCoins.
Other changes include the addition of a bonus Field Research daily task without the need to spin at a PokeStop. At midnight every day, you’ll receive a bonus task which will be different from Field Research. These will focus on activities that can be completed from home. If you don’t have an open Field Research slot, a fourth will open up for you; however, if all four slots are filled, you won’t receive the bonus task. Buddy Pokemon will also start bringing you gifts if you happen to be running low. These Buddy Pokemon will stop by nearby PokeStops to get more for you. Also with this update, you’ll be able to give your Pokemon all Candies and Stardust needed to power it up to your desired CP level at once. You will also be able to activate multiple Star Pieces, Lucky Eggs, and Incense at a time to extend effect durations. Each Star Piece, Lucky Egg, and Incense will maintain a 30-minute duration, but the update will allow you to activate more of these items before the effects have worn off. You’ll be able to activate 200 of each item at once, but once an item is activated, it will disappear from your Item Bag. Other updates coming soon will include updated Battle screens which will update how the HP bars appear. Types of Pokemon will also appear on the screen alongside a text letting you know whether a move is or isn’t effective. Finally, another update will be applied to the shop icon in the Poke Ball menu. Once applied, it will show a notification should updated boxes or new items appear in the shop.
